When I was younger I believed that BDSM was this weird thing that people with serious underlying issues did because they couldn't face what was actually wrong with them. When I was slightly older I discovered that my views were borne of ignorance. BDSM people were just regular people. Kinky people with weird tattoos, but people. Now I'm a little older, a little hornier, and I find myself revisiting my old theory.
Let me tell you what led to this conclusion. I've been lurking a couple of BDSM sites and I always see the same things. The same patterns always emerge. If you're involved in BDSM don't take offense but, there are some seriously fucked individuals amongst you. So without further ado, here is my breakdown of BDSM peoples.
DOM/DOMME: These people come in several varieties. The most common are-
ASSHOLE:
Mindset: I'm a douche and people can tell. Maybe submissives will take my shit, they like abuse.
Summary: This person joins the BDSM community because they have realized on some level that they are giant assholes. Normal people won't put up with their shit so they call their assholery dominance in order to find people willing to take crap.
Humanity Rating: D: for douchebag.
SAVIOR:
Mindset: I can heal the world! (and get laid in the process).
Summary: While believing yourself capable of healing another when they can't do it themselves is a little misguided, it's at least altruistic.
Humanity Rating: B: Good luck Savior Dom, you'll need it.
ANAL RETENTIVE TOOL:
Mindset: I want to rule my life, and your life, and your neighbor's life, and your neighbor's cat's life...
Summary: Remember that boss you had at that fast food restaurant when you where in high school? Remember the manger who thought that if you quit the team and dumped your girlfriend you'd get good enough grades to be able to afford to skip class and come to work more often? Did you want to have sex with them? I didn't either. On the upshot, there are people who don't want to think for themselves anymore whom would love to have this person boink them while giving instructions.
Humanity Rating: D-: I'd like to give this category an F for fucktard but I can't. There are people who want to be micromanaged. The problem with this is that much like Hilary Clinton, Anal Retentive Tools don't want power so that they can actually do anything with it. They just want power.
HORNY LOSER:
Mindset: My twat/dick shriveled to nothing before Eve had even bitten the apple, but I'd still like to snog eighteen year olds.
Summary: The “misconception” that the BDSM community is mostly comprised of aging flesh looking to prey on the young is not wholly inaccurate. Though age is not the only thing that can put you in this category it is the most common. The problem comes in when these people start getting territorial. Find a forum with BDSM people. I promise you there will be a post from someone under the age of forty saying hi, asking for advise, or challenging common wisdom. He or she will be mauled. The aged up, leathertards will have blood!
Humanity Rating: C: I try not to judge (he said in his list o' judgment). If you find a partner you like who likes you, go for it. Just don't bitch when others do the same.
